VI Outreach Services
WESC Foundation’s Outreach Services can support young people with visual impairment in mainstream and special schools, colleges and universities. The specialist support we provide to these schools, colleges and universities can include: staff training, direct pupil support, physical access and environmental audits as well as other development activities, plus joint funding bids.
How we can help
Our network of partnerships is quite diverse and can support young people and adults in the wider community. This support can include practical classroom advice for staff and pupils, student advocacy support, mobility and orientation training, transition work, independence skills, Braille, ICT, access technology, exam access advice & CVI Assessments.
We are a dynamic Outreach team who relish our involvement with staff and students in a variety of settings.
Visual Impairment Awareness Training
As part of our training offer we have Visual Impairment Awareness Training Modules 1 & 2 ready to go; these can be adapted for a variety of groups; either Teachers, Senior Managers or Teaching Assistants and Enablers.
As part of our Outreach Services we also offer split placements with schools and FE colleges. This is where the learner attends the school/FE college for part of their studies and they also attend WESC Foundation for either a short residential period of study, or weekly/termly. This includes specialist skills such as independent living, employability, mobility and orientation, access technology and Braille.
