Welcome to 2018/2019 and a new term

Welcome to the Autumn term of a new academic year!  With the odd very wet exception, September is being good to us so far.  We have also had  some warm sunny days and there is still a chance to still get outdoors.  The leaves are starting to fall from the many trees on our campus.  The many squirrels are harvesting and hiding things around the place. Autumn is definitely in the air.

A reminder of term times

Half term is Monday 22nd to Friday 26th October.  This term ends on Thursday 20th December.  The Spring term starts on Tuesday 8th January.

Dates for the diary

We hope to put on a special event for parents in early November to consider all aspects of how we communicate with you, and how parents are consulted with and can participate in the life of the school, college and care services.  We will be announcing a date very shortly.

On December 7th we will be having a Christmas Fair from 11.00 to 1.00pm where you will be able to buy all sorts of Christmas goodies and enjoy some festive fun with staff and students.  Parent consultation and the end of term Christmas concert will be on Thursday 20th December this year.

Exciting times

This year we will be launching a major campaign to support the development of new state of the art education space on our campus.  We have just refurbished our accommodation for our younger students, and will be making further upgrades to living space during the year.  We are also seeking support to develop a new sports hall, and to increase the range of sporting activity on site #Sport@WESC.  If you can help with any of these big projects, please get in touch.

Introductions

We have welcomed a new Director of Education this term – Sally Cregan.  Sally has a wealth of experience in Special Education and visual impairment.  Sally also has a visual impairment herself which gives her a unique perspective on the work of WESC Foundation.
