The winning team Santander! Well done!

The sun shone brightly at the WESC Foundation fundraising, golf tournament at Exeter Golf and Country Club last week as teams from businesses and organisations from throughout the South West battled it out for the glory. Our golf days are about two things, having fun and raising money for WESC Foundation, and the teams taking part were brilliant at both!

The eventual winners were the team from Santander, Murray Smith, Jon Pike, Martin Pitcher and Steve Tyers, who narrowly pipped the Diamond Electrical team to first place. Mark Peter’s team came third. However, all teams were winners to us as the day raised just £4K, which will go towards funding so much to support the children and young people at WESC Foundation.

Ali Kelly from Palmer and Howells won the ‘Nearest the Pin’ competition and Martin Pitcher from the Santander team triumphed in the ‘Longest Drive’. Derek Shaw from the Devondale team won the ITEC putting competition. Jon Pike from Santander team won the raffle star prize – four corporate hospitality tickets for Exeter Chiefs, donated by ITEC, and well done Angus Holland who actually hit a hole in one on the day!

We would like to say thank you to everyone who took part in the tournament, as well as a massive thank you to our sponsors ITEC, who helped to organise, plan and support the day financially. Thank you also to hole sponsors Robinson White Partnership and Diamond Electrical.

Thank you to Dale and the WESC catering team for the delicious sandwiches and Philip Dennis Food Service for the popular chocolate brownies!

Thank you also to our hosts at Exeter Golf and Country Club for providing such fantastic service and an amazing venue.

Lastly, we are massively grateful to everyone who came along to help on the day, especially Marion Tyrie who really ran the day and Ken Vine who organised the putting competition.

It was one of the most successful WESC Golf Days to date and we are delighted to announce that next year’s Golf Day will be held on 9th May 2019 at Exeter Golf and Country Club. We do hope that you all can make it!
