Prince’s Trust Programme visits WESC during #VolunteersWeek
4 June 2019
This week we have hosted the latest cohort from Exeter College’s Prince’s Trust Team programme who have been spending time with us as part of their community skills project.
In total they will spend four days working in our Discovery Garden with horticulture project manager Dylan Cheshire. Some of the projects have involved extending canes used to support raspberry plants (originally planted by a previous team), creating new borders, and generally helping to tidy up the site which is accessed by visually impaired students and young people at WESC Foundation. Money from a 5 hour dance-a-thon will go towards the cost of border plants.
All of the Exeter College students are taking the Prince’s Trust Level 1 Certificate in in Employment, Teamwork and Community Skills. The nationally-recognised qualification is portfolio based and can lead onto opportunities including continued education, volunteering work and paid employment.
