DIY SOS Burrington Style
6 July 2021
South West developer Burrington Estates is set to completely refurbish an existing building and create a bright new residential space for students attending WESC Foundation’s specialist College in Countess Wear, Exeter.
The ‘Bungalow Project’ will see Burrington convert one of the charity’s old classrooms into a modern, two-bedroom home for students. It will be a fully accessible single floor space ideal for students who might otherwise not be able to attend WESC Foundation College due to their level of vision impairment and complex needs.
Jane Bell, CEO of WESC Foundation says “This development will enable us to say yes to two more students, providing a life changing opportunity for these young people to develop their life skills ready for the next stage of their life, with daily living skills and independence.
“We would simply not be able to make this happen in such a short timescale without the generous support of Burrington Estates and all the people who work for them.”
The Burrington Estates team are currently preparing plans and schedule of works required to make the transformation, with a view to carrying out the work in August, ready for students to move into the building in September.
Mark Edworthy, Group Managing Director at Burrington Estates adds “We’re delighted to be able to help WESC by using our skills and local contractors to carry out this transformation quickly.
“Although we have a little more time than the DIY SOS team usually have to complete the work, everyone here is raring to go. We can’t wait to watch the refurbishment unfold over the coming weeks to create a fantastic residential space for the students at WESC.”
