Coronavirus (COVID-19) and WESC Foundation

23 March 2020

St David’s House residential care home and our supported living accommodation remain open, and people who normally live and receive support in those parts of our provision will continue to do so.  The WESC Foundation school and college is now closed until 14th April 2020.  Our adult day service provision is also currently closed.

Subject to safe staffing levels, we intend to reopen the school and college (for residential and day pupils) on 14th April for all young people who have an EHCP or social worker.  We are working with parents and commissioners to risk assess the situation for each young person across a number of factors, but primarily their health and well-being, to decide whether the young person should return to WESC Foundation or should remain at home on the 14th April.  We will be in touch with parents and carers in the next few days.  If any of our parents are key workers, we will prioritise the return of their young people to our provision if it is safe and feasible to do so.

A decision about re-opening adult day services will be made shortly following a detailed risk assessment.

WESC Foundation Charity Shops and Social Enterprise Shops

All our shops are now closed. We are also unable to accept donations at any of our sites.

General access to the campus

The site is currently closed to non-essential visitors.  If you were due to visit the site please get in touch with the member of staff you were meeting to discuss whether your visit is essential, and if so, how this can be facilitated.

Resources for Parents

If you are a parent or guardian of a child or young person at WESC Foundation then you may find some of these online resources useful.

We would like to thank all our supporters for continuing to support WESC Foundation during the current crisis. For the young people in St David’s House or our supported living accommodation WESC Foundation is their home, and staff are working tirelessly around the clock to provide the necessary support and care to meet their varied and often complex needs.

Whilst many of our planned fundraising activities are likely to be impacted by the current situation we need your help now more than ever. Please consider donating to WESC Foundation to help our work with visually impaired children and young adults with complex needs.
