Disclosure and barring
The DBS (previously CRB) have introduced a new portable online system which enables employees to use their DBS check across organisations for an annual payment of £13.00. It also enables employers to check the status of their employees’ DBS through the online service, without having to re-apply for a new DBS certificate. Please see applicant guide to the online service for more information. WESC Foundation will reimburse the costs of the online registration.
DBS filtering on criminal records certificates
Due to recent legislation, the DBS have removed certain specified old and minor offences from criminal records certificates issued after 29th May 2013. Please see filtering rules provided by the DBS for more detail and list of offences that will never be filtered.
In line with these changes, please note the following changes when you are completing a DBS application form. Question e55 currently asks the applicant ‘have you ever been convicted of a criminal offence or received a caution, reprimand or warning?’
Instead please treat this question as if you were being asked the following: Do you have any convictions, cautions, reprimands or final warnings which would not be filtered in line with current guidance?
For more information you can contact the DBS directly on 0870 90 90 811 or email at firstname.lastname@example.org
WESC Foundation is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All posts are conditional subject to an enhanced DBS certificate and registration with the online update service.
